What is the bigger picture?
773 million people in the world are illiterate. Even more people are digitally illiterate UNESCO reports. UNESCO also reported that over 617 million children and adolescents were not achieving minimum proficiency levels in reading and mathematics.
What do we do?
Addressing illiteracy is a huge field on its own. We start by bridging the AI gap in the communities we can access. We create educative programs on the basic computer science behind AI, using explainable AI and digital art approaches.
What is the format?
Online seminars and participatory lectures from Lecturers around the world. This year we gave particular focus on hands-on activities and offered guided preparation of the students before the lecture. Open accessible data and platforms such as Copernicus satellite data, online virtual reality environments and free python tutorials were used.

After a successful first edition last year, we organised the second edition during May 8th-22nd 2025 in collaboration with Afghan Girls Success Gate.
student feedback
The feedback from the students this year was encouraging and very positive. Their engagement during the lectures but also afterwards, in the post-lecture optional activities has been inspiring for all people involved. This year the chosen lectures covered: Sustainability through Earth Observation satellites, Virtual reality environments, AI in engineering and Foundation of mathematics for AI.
We want to specifically thank the Lecturers who volunteered their time and effort in this edition: Dr Annalisa Riccardi, Dr. Janki Dodiya, Callum Wilson, and Dr. Liubov Bauer.
Without them this program would not have materialized.
